The song is performed by Hujan Esok Hari, a six-member band from Bandung: Ican (guitar), Gilda (guitar), Emil (bass), Haekal (bass), Bayu (drums), and Vicca (vocals). In their second single, they collaborate with Garamerica a name I had come across before.
Back then, I was still new to the world of post-rock, which was largely instrumental, so Hujan Esok Hari really surprised me. The vocal duet of Vicca and Garamerica, following the sound of rainfall and acoustic guitar plucks, felt soft yet deep. Despite having lyrics, the song’s structure wasn’t very clear. Was that a chorus right after the verse? Because it immediately transitions into an instrumental section like an interlude, then comes something like a bridge — only to finally dive into a vocal passage that feels like a chorus, played in an emotional mid-tempo all the way to the end.
The difference between "Esok Hari Hujan" and their debut "Teman dan Pijar" is quite stark. Their second track leans much more toward atmospheric post-rock rather than simply indie/alternative rock.
By the way, "Esok Hari Hujan" has two versions, but I clearly prefer the original 2018 version. The newer version changes a few parts and tweaks the genre slightly, making it feel like a slowed-down remix. You can find the original version on YouTube, Bandcamp, and ReverbNation.
