Los Angeles power/thrash outfit Anubis slow the pace slightly but hit harder than ever, driven by precision blast beats, wild sweeping guitars, and youthful energy. A must-hear for fans of DragonForce, Orden Ogan, and Iced Earth.
The third short installment from Anubis (Los Angeles power/thrashers) delivers a slightly slower tempo compared to their earlier works, but the drums hit the heaviest point—with perfectly structured blast beats that prove they truly can’t set the demon’s soul aside. “Symbiotic Serenity” may be the slowest track, but it still features explosive sections. The band has successfully captured the spirit of youth in this EP and closes it with an exhilarating display of wild, technical-like sweeping guitars that enhance both the energy and nightmare-like atmosphere.
I didn’t notice any production issues—give a shout to Alex Crescioni (the guitarist of Sordes Dominum) too for his talented mixing and mastering, but I’m still not satisfied with the audio quality on Apple Music’s Lossless format. After listening to both Anubis EPs, I found myself needing to turn the volume up just as high as I would on Spotify. That’s really disappointing and blurs the difference between the two platforms.
All in all, Anubis have firmly established their identity—especially through their hook-driven writing and signature blast beats that kick off each release. If you’re a fan of DragonForce, Orden Ogan, or Iced Earth, this band is highly recommended!
