Under the moniker The Ambient Hermit, Scott Lawlor reinterprets classical works into ambient forms. For this release, he tackles the Renaissance-era composer Josquin Lebloitte dit des Prez (1455–1521), known for creating chansons, motets, and motet-chansons.
Although the source material is inherently tied to Christianity—like mass songs and the like—Scott transforms these three tracks into waves within a pipe that completely envelop your head. Yes, there is a spiritualistic sensation, but a darker texture emerges when I listen closely, meaning it doesn't entirely satisfy my personal taste.
Tracklist:
1. O virgo virginum (Reinterpreted)
2. Pour souhaitter (Reinterpreted)
3. Voud ne l'arez pas (Reinterpreted)
