Rapid Log: 003

The Rapid Log returns. Wandering through this vast ocean of music is utterly exhausting. When will I ever feel content with the thousands of favorite songs I already have?

No need for small talk, idiot!

Alright. Just 10 releases. My patience is worn too thin to add any more.

1. Eir Aoi - Hello Hello Hello (2022)

70/100
Genre: alternative/J-Pop/singer-songwriter

Looking at the artist's photo on the album cover is the most painful part. It's not that Aoi Eir is the most beautiful woman out there, but staring at her only makes me feel more wretched. I want a life partner. As for the music, "Hello Hello Hello" is a typical indie/folk-pop track and serves as the main offering here, pulling double duty as the ending theme song for the anime A Couple of Cuckoos.

Tracklist:
 1. Hello Hello Hello
 2. Resonance
 3. CaCo
 4. Hello Hello Hello -TV size version
 5. Hello Hello Hello -instrumental
 6. Resonance -instrumental
 7. CaCo -instrumental

2. Fernando Motta & Eliminadorzinho - Lapso (2019)

70+/100
Genre: alternative rock/shoegaze/emo

Two Brazilian projects collaborate to produce something that managing to clutter the walls of my favorite playlist, despite getting a bit shouty on "Paranoia". So, who is this for? Beats me. Maybe fans of Viva Belgrado might dig it.

Tracklist:
 1. Memória
 2. Nostalgia
 3. Paranoia
 4. Contraditória

3. Gegenpress - Don't Live for Heaven (2026)

65/100
Genre: noise rock/emo/post-hardcore

If I had to look for something relevant, Abandoncy is the only name that comes to mind, though the noise level here stays within normal boundaries. As for the more famous acts in this style, I'm still in the dark.

Tracklist:
 1. Panic Movement
 2. Cruel
 3. Bored
 4. Thousand Cuts
 5. Epigraph
 6. Seamstress
 7. HS23

4. Gloomy Darken - Darken (2024)

70/100

This might appeal to fans of Escaping Agartha, and I hope future releases feature a much more dominant funeral doom metal presence.

Tracklist:
 1. Deceased
 2. Darken

5. Hammock - Blood Moon (2026)

75/100
Genre: Ambient

Far more atmospheric and emotional rather than Into the Blank/Madi.

Tracklist:
 1. Blood Moon 03.03.26
 2. Blood Moon 04.15.14
 3. Blood Moon 10.08.14
 4. Blood Moon 04.04.15
 5. Blood Moon 09.28.15
 6. Blood Moon 01.20.19

6. Heaven Pierce Her - Ultrakill: Fraud (2026)

70/100
Genre: post-industrial/experimental/avant-garde rock/metal

One of those artists tagged under "post-metal" that frequently pops up on Bandcamp's best-selling display, but the reality leans heavily into experimental/avant-garde rock/metal territory. Basically, a kindred spirit to Igorrr.

Tracklist:
 1. In Absentia ΛΟΓΟΣ
 2. Spiral Out (Keep Going)
 3. Never Odd or Even
 4. No Devil Lived On
 5. Mirror Rim
 6. The Break (Crimson Glass deComposition)
 7. The Shattering Circle, or: A Charade of Shadeless Ones and Zeroes Rearranged ad Nihilum
 8. Event Horizon (Reach for the Sun and Burn! Burn! Burn!)
 9. The Fall

7. Hild - Thrash på svenska (2024)

75/100
Genre: Blackened thrash metal

A highly entertaining folk-like spirit delivered via thrash metal, complete with melodic black metal influences slicing through several tracks. It could also find an audience with fans of Tankard.

Tracklist:
 1. Vigrid (Visa från vedervärdiga vidder)
 2. En Väv av Intet
 3. Varm SÃ¥ Länge Hjärtat SlÃ¥r
 4. Som En Horas Piss
 5. Hugg Där Det Smärtar Som Mest
 6. Kvinnokroppen Krälande
 7. Hjadningavig
 8. FramÃ¥t!!!
 9. Liksväljaren
 10. Lukten Av Kristet Blood
 11. Hänrycket är det Enda Sättet Att Leva
 12. En Dag Ska Jag Svälja Solen

8. Hjärna - Sun & Silence (2010)

60+/100
Genre: ambient/experimental/field recordings

A long-form track embodying a summer sun over the countryside, which occasionally shifts into rather bizarre territory.

Tracklist:
 1. Sun & Silence

9. Holy Family School - Amplified Drawing & Underwater Sounds (2024)

50/100
Genre: field recordings/experimental

The surprising element here is that the recordings took place directly at a school—specifically, Holy Family School in Cootehill, County Cavan, Ireland.

Tracklist:
 1. AAArticle_HFS 27May underwater & wood (workshop1)
 2. AAArticle_HFS 27May underwater & wood (workshop2)
 3. AAArticle_HFS 27May underwater & wood (workshop3)

10. Hydroplaned Into a False Reality! - Direct Route To Halfway There (2024)

60/100

A direct route to the longway of a fucking barren land and the flat wave. Yeah, "This Way to Nowhere". I desperately need more air to breathe on this album... Oh, the piano on "The candle is burnt but the light remains", the harsh noise in "I Must Leave", and the experimental tones of "The Ghost Sonata" snap me back into realizing that this record isn't quite done with me yet.

Tracklist:
 1. This way to nowhere
 2. The forest
 3. The fall
 4. Lost in the eternal shadow
 5. Solace in a falsified existence
 6. How did time pass by this quick?
 7. The candle is burnt but the light remains
 8. I Must Leave
 9. The ghost sonata

Breakcore: Subheroine - End. (2025)

77 / 100 End. is Subheroine ’s most immersive and emotionally textured work yet ... Is being a week late enough to make a new release feel cold and stale? Maybe it’s the effect of our fast-paced modern world and the FOMO trend. Who knows. Whatever. Alright then, let’s welcome a new breakcore/drum & bass album (though it runs under 30 minutes) from Subheroine : End. ! End. by SUBHEROINE Released just on November 7 via Japan’s veteran breakcore label, Lost Frog Productions , End . delivers a noticeably more atmospheric vibe this time. So, tagging it as atmospheric drum & bass makes perfect sense, while the “depressive” tag seems to apply only to the cover art. But is that really the case? As always, there are surprises when reviewing music—those unexpected moments that make certain tracks sound more intriguing than expected. The most prominent depressive elements appear in the sampled voice of an anime girl sounding shocked or weakened in...

Electronica/IDM: 4T Thieves - Humanoid (2018)

70 / 100 Humanoid is a compact and tastefully crafted slice of IDM-leaning electronica that blends futuristic elements without overwhelming the listener. I opened my December with an electronica release by 4T Thieves , an EP titled Humanoid , which came out back in February 2018. A brief profile and the project’s track record can be found on RYM or Last.fm , and it’s clear that this act has been active since the 90s, although only arriving on Bandcamp around 2018. Humanoid by 4T Thieves As the name suggests, Humanoid presents a modern environment tinged with a futuristic sci-fi atmosphere, supported by drum work leaning toward IDM and prominent synth/bass that paints the image of a future city gate on “ Elemental .” This is followed by “ Codex ,” which is given a special dose of classic IDM-style glitch effects , and the rest continues into “ The Looking Glass ,” which gives off a nighttime-shadow feel through its slightly dark synth melodies. “Band...

Psychedelic Rock, Experimental: 32 Partials - In Degradation (Part I + II) (2017)

76 / 100 A dual-EP venture that expands 32 Partials ’ sonic universe, In Degradation showcases both their desert-tinged psych rock and a bold leap into experimental ambient/noise. The journey of 32 Partials continues with a descent into desert territory in In Degradation (Part I) , accompanied by an experimental/noise backsound presented separately in In Degradation (Part II) . Both were created during the summer and released together at the end of August 2017. Each EP contains three tracks, so I figured it would be more efficient to summarize them in one review instead of two. In Degradation (Part II) by 32 Partials What’s presented first is a Middle Eastern–styled rock performance using bouzouki and flanged guitar without distorted accompaniment, making it less clearly aligned with desert/stoner rock . The same goes for the two psychedelic rock tracks that follow—they don’t feature synths as strongly as the previous release, but overall t...
